Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) saw a varied performance at Wednesday’s close.
Market capitalization concluded the session at EGP 2.238 trillion.
The benchmark EGX30 index went down 0.33%, closing the session at 30,587.99 points.
The small- and mid-cap EGX70 (EWI) added 0.02% to end at 8,283.85 points, while the EGX100 edged down 0.09%, wrapping up the session at 11,459.08 points.
The sharia-compliant index, EGX33 Shariah index, lost 0.21%, concluding the session at 3,157.18 points.
Today’s trading saw 1.269 million shares exchanged over 94,064 transactions, with a turnover of EGP 2.906 billion.
Respecting investor’s trading activity, retail investors seized 81.61% of total trading transactions, while institutional investors made up 18.38% of trading.
Egyptian traders constituted 87.72% of total trading transactions, while Arab and foreign investors accounted for 6.82% and 5.45%, respectively.
Arab and non-Arab foreign traders were net purchasers with EGP 99.577 million and EGP 6.286 million, respectively. Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 105.863 million.
