The Egyptian President has ordered that the minimum allowance provided by the Emergency Assistance Fund for Workers will be raised from EGP 600 to EGP 1,500, ensuring a more substantial support system for each worker, as per a statement.

The Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly declared Sunday, May 5th, and Monday, May 6th, as paid holidays for the private and public sectors to mark the Labor Day and Sham El Nessim.

Egyptian cabinet and the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) have made the same announcement before.

The occasion falls on Monday, May 1st, but the government said in 2020 it would move all mid-week vacation days, with the exception of Eid Al-Fitr, Eid Al-Adha, and Coptic Christmas, to the end of the week, in order to give workers the chance to enjoy a long weekend.
