Egypt’s agricultural exports climb 17.3% YoY in 5 months

Arab Finance: Egypt’s agricultural exports rose by 606,302 tons, or 17.26% year on year (YoY) during the first five months of 2023, reaching 4.118 million tons from 3.512 million tons, Ministry of Agriculture and Lance reclamation announced on June 9th, citing a recent report issued by Central Administration of Plant Quarantine.

The report showed that citrus, potatoes, fresh onions, sweet potatoes, pomegranates, garlics, strawberries, beans, guavas, tomatoes and grapes are the main Egyptian agricultural exports.

Citrus topped the list of agricultural exports with 1.845 million tons during the period from January to May, followed by fresh potato exports with 786,468 tons, while onions ranked third with 281,729 tons of exports.

Beans were the fourth in the list with total exports of 54,169 tons, while exports of sweet potatoes reached 52,791 tons, followed by grapes in the sixth spot with 52,556 tons.

Meanwhile, Egypt's exports of Tomatoes ranked seventh with a total of 43,528 tons, followed by strawberries in eighth place with total exports of 23,116 tons, then garlic with a total amount of 17,662 tons.
