Arab Finance: Chevron has redirected its offshore Israeli natural gas shipments to Egypt via an alternative pipeline through Jordan, instead of the East Mediterranean Gas (EMG) pipeline, following the tensions in Israel and Gaza, Reuters reported, citing a statement by the company.
The company previously announced that it had been instructed by the Israeli Ministry of Energy to temporarily halt production from Israel’s Tamar offshore gas field over safety concerns.
"Following the instruction by the Ministry of Energy to shut-in production at the Tamar Production Platform and the security situation in the south of Israel, all exports to Egypt have been re-routed via the FAJR pipeline,", a spokesperson said.
Additionally, energy industry sources revealed that the amount of natural gas exported from Israel's Leviathan field to Egypt has been trimmed slightly.
