ArabFinance: Egyptian Manpower Minister Hassan Shehata announced that next Thursday, January 26th, would be a paid holiday for private-sector workers to commemorate the January 25 Revolution and National Police Day, according to a statement on January 20th.
Shehata said that business owners can oblige employees to work during the holiday, but must be paid double time.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly previously announced that next Thursday, January 26th will be a paid holiday for Egypt's public sector workers and employees at state institutions.
Both occasions fall on January 25th - which is Wednesday - but the government said in 2020 it would move all mid-week vacation days, with the exception of Eid Al-Fitr, Eid Al-Adha, and Coptic Christmas, to the end of the week, to give workers the chance to take a long weekend.
