Arab Finance: Egypt's annual headline inflation rate recorded 12.7% in August 2026, compared to 13% last July, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
On an annual basis, food and beverage (F&B) prices rose by 6.5%, while prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased by 7.7%.
Clothing and footwear prices climbed by 12.6%, while housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel recorded a 33% increase.
Prices of furniture, household equipment, and maintenance services rose by 14.8%.
Healthcare prices increased by 5.2%, while transportation costs climbed by 21.7%.
Meanwhile, the monthly consumer price index (CPI) stood at 289.8 points in August 2026.
It is worth noting that Egypt’s annual headline inflation stood at 11.2% in August 2025.
