EGX closes Wednesday in red zone

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) showed a negative performance on Wednesday, with the EGX30 index down 1.38% to 54,512.65 points.

The Shariah index retreated by 1.34% to 6,518.41 points, while the EGX35-LV fell by 1.88% to 6,740.32 points.

Both the EGX70 index and the EGX100 index finished the session lower by 3.25% at 20,962.17 points and by 2.75% at 27,185.62 points, respectively.

The EGX’s turnover reached EGP 14.670 billion through the exchange of 4.513 billion shares over 335,575 transactions, while the market cap hit EGP 4.217 trillion.

Individuals controlled 81.17% of trading transactions, while institutions accounted for 18.82%.

Egyptians represented 92.53% of total trading, while foreign and Arab investors made up 5.29% and 2.18%, respectively.

Foreign traders were buyers with EGP 10.971 billion. Egyptian and Arab traders were net sellers with EGP 4.368 billion and EGP 6.602 billion, respectively.
