Metad Helwan eyes EGX IPO of up to 30% stake in H2 2027

Arab Finance: Metad Helwan for Metal Rolling plans to list a 15%–30% stake on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) in the second half (H2) of 2027, Al Borsa reported, citing Chairman Sherif Ayad.

The company aims to raise EGP 1 billion through the initial public offering (IPO), which would imply a valuation estimated at EGP 3.3 billion to EGP 6.7 billion, depending on the stake offered.

Metad Helwan is still studying the transaction and has not yet appointed a financial adviser or bookrunner.

The IPO proceeds will partially finance the company’s steel expansion plan, valued at between EGP 1.5 billion and EGP 2 billion.

Ayad noted that this investment plan includes increasing monthly production capacity to 20,000 tons from the current 15,000 tons.

Founded in 1973, Metad Helwan specializes in steel rolling rather than integrated steel production. The company purchases steel billets and re-rolls them to manufacture reinforcing steel bars and structural sections, including beams, angles, and flats, with diameters of less than 80 millimeters. It operates in a different segment of the steel market from major integrated producers such as Ezz Steel and Beshay Steel.
