Poultry prices in Egypt increase; meat shows stability on January 5th

Arab Finance: Meat prices showed relative stability while poultry prices increased on Monday, January 5th, 2026, with mixed daily, monthly, and annual movements recorded across several key food items, according to a report by the Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC).

The price of a kilogram of white chicken rose to EGP 79, reflecting a daily increase of 5.3% and a monthly increase of 6.5%, while remaining down 11.8% year on year (YoY).

Beef prices declined, with a kilogram priced at EGP 394.7, marking a daily decrease of 3.1% and a monthly decrease of 4.1%, alongside a slight annual increase of 0.7%.

Tilapia prices held steady at EGP 84.7 per kilogram, with no notable daily change.

The price recorded a monthly decrease of 1.3% and a YoY increase of 1.6%.

The price of packaged milk reached EGP 44.1 per liter, posting a daily increase of 1.2%, a monthly rise of 0.3%, and an annual increase of 2.1%.

Meanwhile, a carton of white eggs was priced at EGP 142.4, following a daily increase of 0.3%, while recording a monthly decrease of 3.8% and an annual decline of 12.1%.

The IDSC said it continues to monitor price movements to provide consumers and merchants with data to support economic decision-making.
