Arab Finance: MSC has rerouted its Jade shipping service back through the Suez Canal and Bab Al Mandab, passing through King Abdullah Port in Rabigh, the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) announced.
Such a move will shorten the shipping route, accelerate the delivery of goods and commodities to markets, and enhance the efficiency of export and import flows. This supports the smooth operation of supply chains and the Kingdom’s position as a major hub in the global trade and maritime network.
The Jade shipping service has a capacity of up to 15,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). It connects King Abdullah Port with regional and international ports, including Fos-sur-Mer in France; Barcelona and Valencia in Spain; Gioia Tauro in Italy; Singapore; Nansha, Yantian, Xiamen, Ningbo, Shanghai, and Qingdao in China; and Busan in South Korea.
The updated route emphasizes the readiness of Saudi ports and their strategic location along key maritime trade routes. This improves Saudi Arabia's global market connections and supports the National Transport and Logistics Strategy's goal of making the Kingdom a logistics hub linking three continents.
Last May, Mawani launched the new Red Sea Express container shipping service to King Fahd Industrial Port, linking Jeddah Islamic Port, King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu, Ain Sokhna Port in Egypt, and Aqaba Port in Jordan.
