Egypt, Japan mull cooperation in new, renewable energy sector

Arab Finance: Egyptian Minister of Electricity Mahmoud Esmat has mulled potential cooperation opportunities with the Japanese Ambassador to Egypt Oka Hiroshi and a delegation from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in several fields, especially new and renewable energy projects, a statement showed.

The meeting touched upon collaboration opportunities in various projects, including the rehabilitation of North Cairo, Sidi Kerir, and El-Atf power plants, as well as enhancing the efficiency of North Cairo, Alexandria, and North Delta Electricity Distribution Companies.

This is in addition to discussing cooperation in a project to establish a photovoltaic power plant and a solar power plant in Kom Ombo, along with other power generation projects in the Gulf of Suez and Ras Ghareb regions.

Moreover, the meeting tackled cooperation in the field of training and capacity building.
