Arab Finance: The Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade recently joined a roundtable meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to explore ways to strengthen economic ties between Egypt and Malaysia, according to a statement.
Organized by the Malaysian Embassy in Cairo, the meeting focused on enhancing bilateral investment opportunities.
During the event, Ibrahim praised the historical and strong relationship between Egypt and Malaysia.
He emphasized Malaysia’s commitment to deepening ties with Egypt across various sectors, including trade, industry, investment, education, scientific research, and tourism.
Ibrahim also acknowledged Egypt's significant position in both the Arab World and Africa, noting that Malaysia is eager to collaborate with Egypt in emerging fields like digital transformation, energy, and semiconductor production.
For his part, El-Khatib described the Malaysian Prime Minister’s visit as an excellent opportunity to boost bilateral industrial, trade, and investment cooperation.
El-Khatib said that Egypt aims to become a regional export hub, hoping that Malaysian companies expand their projects and investments in the country.
Hence, the Malaysian side expressed interest in exploring potential collaboration with Egypt in semiconductor production.
Moreover, both sides agreed to activate the Egypt-Malaysia Joint Committee in early 2025 to promote investment and cooperation between the two countries.
