Arab Finance: Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation of Egypt followed on the second tranche of the Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) mechanism and the budget deficit support worth €4 billion, as per a statement.
During a video conference meeting with Annika Eriksgård, Director-General for Economic and Financial Affairs at the European Commission, Al-Mashat addressed Egypt’s structural reform measures to enhance macroeconomic, improve the business environment, and boost the transition to a green economy.
The meeting also discussed preparations for a European Commission delegation to visit Egypt by the end of May to hold several meetings with various national authorities to finalize procedures related to the second tranche of the MFA.
Last December, the European Commission had approved the disbursement of €1 billion in funding to Egypt as part of the MFA program, which is the first of a €5 billion funding package.
