Badawi inspects infrastructure preparations at Sumed, Sonker ports in Ain Sokhna

Arab Finance: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi inspected the infrastructure preparations at Sumed and Sonker ports in Ain Sokhna to secure gas supplies during the summer, according to a statement.

Badawi followed up on the arrangements for receiving and docking imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification vessels.

He also inspected gas pipeline projects to connect the vessels to the national gas grid, as part of the ministry’s measures to secure natural gas supplies to power plants during the summer.

The minister began his tour by inspecting the marine dock where the Hoegh Galleon vessel is currently berthed, ensuring that operations are proceeding smoothly.

He also inspected the project to prepare the second marine dock at the Sumed port to receive another regasification vessel.

Moreover, he visited Sonker Port in Ain Sokhna, where he reviewed horizontal drilling operations for laying pipeline connections between the regasification unit and the national gas grid.
