In July 2024, bread saw the highest annual inflation rate among food products, with prices rising by 181.9%, according to data from Egypt’s CAPMAS.
Potatoes followed with an inflation rate of 133.9%, while tomatoes experienced a 121.5% increase.
Non-subsidized sugar had a price rise of 66.8%, and coffee saw an inflation rate of 53.9%.
The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced that Egypt’s annual headline inflation narrowed to 25.2% in July, compared to 38.2% in the same month of 2023.
