Arab Finance: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed the government to increase public spending on improving the living conditions of citizens in the new draft budget for the coming fiscal year (FY) 2024/2025, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait said in a statement on January 9th.
El-Sisi also called on the government to improve the wages of public employees and pensioners, Maait added.
These directives aim at alleviating burdens on citizens in a way that limit inflationary impacts along with achieving the state’s economic targets, giving priority to the health and education sectors, the minister noted.
Moreover, the government is working on implementing a package of promising structural reforms to support various sectors as part of the state’s efforts for the optimal use of its resources and stimulating the international competitiveness of the Egyptian economy, he pointed out.
Maait confirmed before that the government is committed to improving the wages of state workers and pensioners in 2024 in line with measures aimed at improving the living conditions of citizens and alleviating economic burdens on them.
