Foreigners Licensed to Work in Private Sector in 2023

In 2023, the number of foreigners authorized to work in Egypt's private sector reached 17,357, marking a notable year-on-year increase of 30.2%, as per data from CAPMAS.

These foreign workers originating from Asia (non-Arab), account for 36.2% of the total.

Europe follows closely behind, representing 34.4%, while individuals from Arab countries make up 20.1%.

A smaller proportion of 4.5% comes from America and 3.8% from Africa.

The unemployment rate in Egypt declined to 6.7% in the first quarter (Q1) of 2024 from 6.9% in the last quarter of 2023.
