Arab Finance: The Egyptian government has dedicated an estimated amount of around EGP 16.2 billion for water and irrigation projects under the fiscal year (FY) 2022/2023 budget plan, according to an official statement on February 4th.
Some of these projects are 85% complete so far, the statement added.
This investment plan was discussed by planning and economic minister Hala El-Said and water and irrigation resources minister Hani Sewilam.
Water security is one of the main goals of sustainable development that is consistent with Egypt Vision 2023, El-Said noted.
The government is currently carrying out several major projects in the field of water across different governorates to reinforce sustainable management of water resources to face challenges and bolster the sustainability of food security, Sewilam said.
