EGAS receives 5 LNG shipments to meet power plants’ demand

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) has received five shipments of around 155,000 cubic meters of liquified natural gas (LNG) on board two regasification ships at Sumed port in Ain Sokhna and Aqaba port, as per a statement.

The shipments are part of the 21 agreed-upon ones to meet power plants’ fuel demands and carry out the plan to suspend the electricity load reduction scheme in the third week of July.

The remaining 16 LNG shipments will arrive consecutively as per the agreed-upon timeframe for receiving the shipments.

On a related note, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources is slated to receive two LNG shipments with a capacity of nearly 145,000 tons within 10 days, a government official told Al Arabiya Business.

These shipments are directly headed to the Ain Sokhna port for gasification and to be pumped into the national grid, the official added.
