Egypt signs MoU with UAE’s Dragon Oil to utilize AI in managing Gulf of Suez oil reservoirs

Arab Finance: Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with UAE-based Dragon Oil to integrate advanced artificial intelligence (AI) in the management of oil reservoirs at the company’s concessions in the Gulf of Suez, as per a statement.

The MoU outlines collaborative efforts to implement digital solutions powered by AI to optimize data analysis, streamline operations, and improve reservoir management in mature fields within the Gulf of Suez.

These initiatives aim to elevate hydrocarbon recovery rates and meet Egypt's strategic objectives for efficient, sustainable energy development.

Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawi emphasized that the partnership with Dragon Oil aligns with the ministry’s program to incorporate digital transformation and AI into oil and gas operations.

Dragon Oil's CEO Ali Rashid Al Jarwan expressed the firm’s intention to expand its activities in Egypt, particularly within the Gulf of Suez, and voiced interest in acquiring new exploration areas.
