Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) showed a varied performance on Thursday, with the market capitalization hitting EGP 2.230 trillion.
The EGX30 index ended the session higher by 0.08% at 30,526.71 points.
On the other hand, the Sharia-compliant index, EGX33 Shariah index, went down by 0.04% to 3,134.18 points.
The small- and mid-cap EGX70 equal-weight index (EWI) and EGX100 index closed the session lower by 0.11% at 8,410.64 points and by 0.05% at 11,532.93 points, respectively.
A total of 936.179 million shares were exchanged at a value of EGP 3.794 billion over 83,739 transactions.
Institutions accounted for 40.79% of the total trading transactions, while retail investors represented 59.20% of trading.
Egyptian investors equaled 70.9% of the trading transactions, while Arab and foreign traders accounted for 4.22% and 24.87%, respectively.
Foreign and Arab traders were buyers with EGP 148.16 million and EGP 91.57 million, respectively. Meanwhile, the Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 239.73 million.
