Arab Finance: Egypt-based Samcrete Engineers and Contractors (SMCS) and the Saudi engineering firm Sarh Attqnia have been awarded a contract worth $200 million to establish water treatment plants in Mauritania in the third quarter (Q4) of 2024, Samcrete’s Executive Director of Business Development Refky Kamel told Asharq Business.
Set to be implemented in 18 months, the project will be funded by the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Kamel said.
This project marks the first to be undertaken by Samcrete in collaboration with Sarh Attqnia, he added.
He also pointed out that the two-firm consortium is currently competing to carry out a water treatment plant and network project in the Saudi city of Jizan, with SAR 3 billion in investments.
Additionally, Kamel disclosed that Samcrete’s business volume in Egypt amounts to EGP 7 million, noting that the company is seeking to get an EGP 3 billion loan from banks to cover the investment expenses related to the execution of silo projects in East Port Said as well as strategic warehouses in Suez.
