Planning Ministry updates private investment calculation approach

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Ministry of Planning and Economic Development has updated the approach used in calculating private investments, as per a statement on April 3rd.

This move aims to provide more accurate data regarding the volume of private investments distributed over different sectors.

As per the new approach, the private sector investments in the fiscal year (FY) of 2022/2023 have been estimated to make up 36.4% of total investments at EGP 499.2 billion, compared to a previous estimation of 25.5%, or EGP 298.5 billion, Minister of Planning Hala Elsaid highlighted.

This approach also calculated the private sector investments for the first quarter (Q1) of FY 2023/2024 at around EGP 154 billion, versus EGP 114 billion, she added.

In addition, the volume of private investments is expected to reach about EGP 600 billion by the end of the current FY, the minister pointed out,
