GIZ Egypt, IMC forge partnership to elevate Egyptian SMEs to international standards

Arab Finance: GIZ Egypt and the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC) have joined forces to bolster Egyptian small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and align them with global benchmarks, as per a statement.

IMC will implement a comprehensive program comprising four interventions tailored to over 200 private sector companies operating in key industries, such as dried fruits and vegetables, medical and aromatic plants, cheese and dairy, and confectionary, over 18 months.

Through a series of workshops, targeted enterprises primarily situated in industrial hubs like Beni Suef, Fayoum, and Sadat Industrial City will be equipped with vital knowledge and resources.

The objectives of the project include empowering 60 SMEs with the requisite expertise to navigate the standards set forth by the National Food Safety Authority (NFSA), paving the way for white-list certification.

It will also provide Occupational Safety and Health Certification to 50 specialists within food processing and agribusiness enterprises.

The project will assist 160 SMEs in achieving compliance with internationally recognized standards such as FSSC, ISO 45001, and ISO 22000, as well as enhancing the skill set of 50 blue-collar workers through vocational training.
