EGX closes Wednesday on mixed note, EGX70 sole riser

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange’s (EGX) indices have wrapped up Wednesday’s trading on a mixed note, with the EGX70 index as the sole gainer.

Market capitalization closed the session at nearly EGP 1.984 trillion.

The benchmark EGX30 index went down 0.36% at the level of 29,090.57 points. 

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 (EWI) added 0.2% to 6,694.64 points at the end of the session, while the EGX100 lost 0.13%, closing the session at 9,590.55 points.

The sharia-compliant index, EGX33 Shariah index, fell by 0.5% to conclude the session at 2,773.58 points.

Today’s trading saw 1.462 billion shares exchanged over 115,115 transactions, with a turnover of EGP 3.77 billion.

As regards investor’s trading activity, retail investors seized 76.82% of total trading transactions, while institutional investors made up 23.17% of trading.

Egyptian traders constituted 91.21% of total trading transactions, while Arab and foreign investors accounted for 5.43% and 3.36%, respectively.

Arab and non-Arab foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 43.601 million and EGP 33.713 million, respectively. Egyptian traders were net sellers with EGP 77.314 million.
