Swiss Barry Callebaut to make debut in Egypt with $30M project

Arab Finance: Swisstzerland-based chocolate manufacturer Barry Callebaut is looking forward to entering the Egyptian market by launching a chocolate factory with investments of $30 million, the company’s President for Asia Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East Vamsi Mohan Thati stated.

The announcement came during a meeting between Deputy CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Yasser Abbas and a delegation from the Swiss company to discuss the firm’s investment plans in Egypt.

The project aims to meet the domestic demand and turn Egypt into a regional hub for exporting the company’s products to the Middle East and Africa, Thati revealed.

For his part, Abbas stressed GAFI’s full support to Barry Callebaut throughout the project’s implementation stages, from facilitating land ownership and the company’s establishment to the project’s operational procedures to ensure the sustainability of production activities.
