Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib met with a delegation from US-based grain storage and transportation services provider Blumberg Grain to discuss the company’s plan to establish a regional center in Egypt for its Middle East and East Africa operations.

The Egyptian government is planning to reduce the area allotted for rice cultivation in the country by around 32% to 750,000 feddans as of May 2025 from 1.1 million feddans in the current season.

Therefore, the authorities have been trying to mitigate this price fluctuation to stabilize the sugar market.

Egypt has raised cultivated areas to 10 million feddans for the new agricultural season of 2023/2024, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Al-Sayed El-Quseir stated.
