The Egyptian government will begin paying state employees under the approved wage increases on July 20th, raising their minimum monthly income to EGP 8,000, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk said.

Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk decided to advance the disbursement of outstanding salaries for government employees for March, starting on April 7th, according to a statement.

Egypt has a workforce of 31 million skilled workers, with average monthly salaries ranging between $150 and $400.

Egypt’s public treasury is bearing nearly EGP 3 billion in support of the employee salaries in the state’s special funds and accounts across the governorates in the current fiscal year (FY) 2023/2024.

Ministry of Finance is set to pay salaries to all state employees as of April 13th, ahead of the three-day Eid Al-Fitr holiday, which will begin on April 22nd.
