Pakistan considers bilateral trade with Egypt in local currencies

Arab Finance: Pakistan will discuss trade exchange in local currencies with Egypt, with priority to wheat trade, Pakistani Minister of Industries and Production Gohar Ejaz told Asharq Business.

Ejaz also revealed that Pakistan’s trade exchange with Egypt reached $400 million in 2023, and is targeted to increase to $4 billion annually in the future.

On January 9th, Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir inaugurated the fourth edition of the Pakistan Africa Trade Development Conference (PATDC), in the presence of Minister of Public Business Sector Mahmoud Esmat and Ejaz.

With its huge resources and emerging markets, the African continent provides tremendous opportunities for Pakistani investments, Samir said.

Approximately seven African and Asian countries and a number of investors and businessmen in Egypt and Pakistan participated in the conference.

During the conference, Esmat and Ejaz mulled over ways to reinforce cooperation between the two countries and discussed new investment opportunities related to the industries of textiles, pharmaceuticals, papers, and fertilizers.

Furthermore, Esmat highlighted that a detailed roadmap was conducted on the available investment opportunities at the affiliated companies to the Ministry of Public Business Sector, which is being offered to the business community and investors.
