Arab Finance: Egypt is considering cooperation with the European Union (EU) in energy transition and emission reduction projects, as announced during a meeting between Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla and Director General for Energy of the European Commission Ditte Juul Jørgensen.
On the sidelines of the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2024), El-Molla highlighted the key role played by the EU as a strategic partner to Egypt in numerous vital projects.
He also said that financial support from the EU and international financial institutions is crucial to accelerate the implementation of emission reduction and energy transition projects.
Furthermore, the meeting tackled the importance of devising a roadmap for carrying out the Global Methane Pledge (GMP) in the Egyptian oil and gas sector, in collaboration with European companies and the World Bank.
On her part, Jørgensen referred to the regular meetings held to chart a course of action and attract investments in green hydrogen production projects in Egypt.
