Arab Finance: The Ministry of Civil Aviation is targeting to increase the capacity of Egyptian airports to 72.2 million passengers a year by the end of 2025, compared to 66.3 passengers in 2023, Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh Elhefny stated.
Elhefny noted that the ministry set a strategic target of reaching a capacity of 109.20 million passengers annually by the end of 2030.
Furthermore, the ministry is working on cementing strategic partnerships to lure further foreign direct investments (FDIs) in the civil aviation sector, the minister added.
The announcements came during a meeting between Elhefny and Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to follow up on matters related to the civil aviation sector.
During the meeting, Madbouly assigned Elhefny to oversee the development of Borg El Arab Airport given the current high demand for it.
Additionally, Madbouly has directed an adequate promotion of El Alamein International Airport, as New Alamein City is seeing a surge in tourism.
