Arab Finance: The Egyptian cabinet has approved draft decisions on establishing two new private free zones aimed at enhancing the country’s port infrastructure and trade capabilities, as per a statement.

The first decision endorses the creation of the Safaga Terminals Operating Company LLC free zone, which will be located on an 810,000-square-meter land plot at Safaga Port in the Red Sea Governorate.

This free zone will feature a 1,100-meter berth, and is part of a broader initiative to transform Egyptian ports into global trade and logistics hubs.

The Safaga Terminals Operating Company LLC will be responsible for constructing and managing a multi-purpose terminal.

The project aims to handle an annual production volume of 9.3 million tons and is expected to generate numerous job opportunities for Egyptian workers.

The second draft decision involves the establishment of the Dekheila Container Terminal LLC free zone on 840,000 square meters at Berth 100 inside Dekheila Port, Alexandria.

This zone will include a 1,200-meter berth and will focus on developing and managing a container terminal.

The Dekheila Container Terminal LLC aims to handle an annual volume of 2 million twenty-foot equivalent containers and create significant employment opportunities for local workers.
