Arab Finance: East Port Said Port was ranked 10th in the World Bank’s Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) 2022, moving up from the 15th place in 2021, the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) stated on May 26th, citing a report by the World Bank.
China's Yangshan Port was ranked 1st in the CPPI 2022, followed by Port of Salalah in Oman, Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi, and Tanger-Mediterranean, according to the report.
Developed by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence, the CPPI aims to rank global container ports based on their levels of efficiency in terms of the time spent by the ship in the port, the port’s infrastructure and berths, and quality of roads, along with effectiveness of procedures.
The ranking aims to identify the gaps and possibilities for improvement for the benefit of stakeholders from shipping lines to national governments to consumers, S&P Global Market Intelligence stated.
