NBE, GIZ pen cooperation protocol to back industrial SMEs

Arab Finance: The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) has signed a cooperation protocol with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to support the industrial small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) via providing non-financial services, Hapi Journal reported on June 20th.

The deal is part of the GIZ’s plans to cooperate with the private sector and benefit from the joint resources to shore it up, Head of Private Sector Development at GIZ Egypt Jonas Naguib noted.

For his part, Head of the SMEs Sector at NBE Tarek Hassan said that the protocol comes within the bank’s strategy to provide technical support to owners of SMEs via offering a package of training programs funded by the German government.

These programs aimed at supporting intermediate products’ projects to supply production inputs to other companies operating in the industrial sectors, including engineering, food, chemicals, and packaging companies to boost their supply chains, Hassan added.
