Arab Finance: Egypt has extended the closing date of its first global gold prospecting bid at five areas in the Eastern Desert via Shalateen Mineral Resource Company (SMRC) to November instead of August, a government official told Asharq Business on August 6th.
The decision came upon a request from the bidders to visit and inspect the areas, the official noted.
Earlier in May, the North African country launched a bid for gold prospecting in five areas in the Eastern Desert, namely Fatiri, Barramiya, Atud, Umm Ud, and Hamata.
Eight Chinese, Turkish, Australian, and local firms have withdrawn their books of specifications so far, the official said.
