Arab Finance: Sean Jones has been appointed as the new Mission Director for the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Egypt, the US Embassy in Cairo stated.
As the agency’s mission director, Jones will oversee a portfolio of over 45 projects which are part of the US government’s $125 million annual assistance to Egypt.
“I look forward to working with the Egyptian government, strategic partners, and the Egyptian people, to build on shared priorities between the United States and Egypt in areas such as economic growth, women’s empowerment, and climate change,” Jones commented.
Jones held previously several positions, including the USAID Mission Director in Ethiopia and Mexico as well as USAID missions in Yemen, Iraq, Jordan, and Colombia and Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator in USAID’s Bureau for Food Security.
He also served as the Deputy Coordinator for the US Government’s Power Africa initiative.
