ITIDA, GIZ team up to boost employment in Egypt’s outsourcing sector

Arab Finance: The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to boost cooperation in the fields of enhancement of youth employability and creation of job opportunities in the local and international outsourcing industry, as per an emailed press release on August 16th.

The MoU also aims to lure further investments in the field of services export, promote competitiveness in technology innovation fields and support Egyptian companies in promoting the information technology industry and integrating industry 4.0 digital technologies in the local electronics manufacturing industry.

Under the MoU, both sides will jointly develop a training program to create about 1,200 job opportunities for youth, in addition to boosting outsourcing activities in the information technology (IT) field in Egypt, Germany, and the European Union (EU) by attracting more German firms to provide outsourcing services to Egypt for starters.

“ITIDA is keen on developing the digital and technical skills of youth and matching them with local and international companies specialized in the field of information technology,” ITIDA’s CEO Ahmed El Zaher commented.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to create new job opportunities, and contribute to the development of a knowledge-based economy. This will help us to empower youth, women, entrepreneurs, and SMEs, further diversifying and strengthening the Egyptian economy,” Alexander Solyga, Country Director of GIZ Egypt, said.
