Arab Finance: Services at Egypt's Damietta Port have returned to normal after a fire aboard two vessels caused by a drone, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said during the government's weekly meeting on July 30, citing preliminary investigation findings.
Madbouly reviewed the latest developments surrounding the incident, saying initial investigations conducted by the relevant authorities indicated that the fire was caused by a drone.
He added that investigations are ongoing to determine all the circumstances of the incident and that the necessary measures will be taken to safeguard Egypt's interests and national security.
Moreover, the prime minister said all services at Damietta Port have stabilized and operations are continuing at full capacity, with shipping activities proceeding normally.
He also noted that the port continues to receive and dispatch vessels of all types, while cargo handling, container operations, dry bulk, liquid bulk, and general cargo activities are being carried out according to approved schedules and at high operational efficiency. Electricity services at the port are also stable, he clarified.
During the meeting, the relevant ministers reviewed the efforts undertaken to contain the fire aboard the two vessels and restore services at the port, highlighting coordination among the ministries and concerned authorities.
