EETC signs deal with Korra Energi, HIDELECO for 500-kV transmission project

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) signed an agreement with Korra Energi and High Dam Electrical & Industrial Projects Co. (HIDELECO) for the third phase of the Orascom-Hawamdeya power line, according to a statement.

The 500-kV transmission line is part of the company’s plan to support the national electricity grid and accommodate the power generated from wind energy projects in the Gulf of Suez region.

The project forms part of EETC's strategy to strengthen the national electricity grid and accommodate electricity generated from wind power projects in the Gulf of Suez.

Under the agreement, the alliance will construct a 52.2-kilometer double-circuit, quad-bundle overhead transmission line operating at 500 kV.

The project will use all-aluminum alloy conductors (AAAC) with a 506×4 mm² cross-section, in addition to an optical ground wire (OPGW) fiber-optic cable and a 94.1 mm² AACSR underground cable.

Meanwhile, the project, awarded in June, is scheduled for completion within 12 months of the contract signing date of July 20th.
