Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) to strengthen cooperation and support the development of the financial services sector, according to a statement.
EGX Chairman Omar Radwan said the MoU aims to expand regional and international partnerships while fostering a business environment capable of attracting major institutional investments to Egypt.
Radwan highlighted recent developments in the Egyptian capital market, including frameworks for margin trading, securities lending and borrowing (SLB), and short selling, as well as the expansion of instruments like bonds and treasury bills (T-bills).
He further addressed the development of markets and platforms for derivatives, futures contracts, and carbon credits, alongside new tax incentives designed to provide investors with additional tools for risk management, hedging, and liquidity management.
During his speech at a panel session, the Chairman noted that the EGX has maintained its resilience amid geopolitical challenges, with trading volumes reaching EGP 17.9 trillion by September 2026 and market cap exceeding EGP 4 trillion.
Radwan added that Egypt’s continued classification as an emerging market by major international index providers, including MSCI, S&P Dow Jones, and FTSE Russell, reflects ongoing efforts to develop and strengthen the country’s capital market.
