Arab Finance: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi met with Arcius Energy CEO Naser Saif Al Yafei to discuss the company’s activities in Egypt and plans to accelerate gas exploration and production, according to a statement.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of an East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) roundtable in Greece, focused on development plans for the Harmattan gas field and measures to accelerate its production start-up schedule.
Talks also addressed Arcius Energy’s deepwater exploration operations in Egypt, particularly preparations to drill the Atoll West well in North Damietta, as well as progress on development activities in the North Tabia area and plans to drill the Nofret well.
Badawi reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting Arcius Energy’s expansion plans in Egypt, stressing the importance of addressing implementation challenges and accelerating drilling, development, and production activities. These efforts aim to maximize the utilization of Egypt’s natural gas resources and boost domestic production in the coming years.
For his part, Al Yafei asserted the company's goal of driving growth and increasing production in Egypt between 2027 and 2030. He noted that Egypt serves as a cornerstone for Arcius Energy’s regional operations and a vital hub within the regional energy trading and distribution network.
The CEO also praised cooperation with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), and national project execution companies, including Enppi and Petrojet.
