Arab Finance: Egypt's annual headline inflation rate rose to 13% in July 2026, from 12.2% last June, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The report said the hike was mainly due to rising food and beverage (F&B) prices, which climbed by 7.9%. Likewise, the alcoholic beverages and tobacco sector recorded an increase of 8.4% in prices.
The clothing and footwear sector jumped by 13%, while the housing, water, electricity, gas, and fuel sector surged by 31.1%.
Additionally, the furniture, household equipment, and maintenance sector recorded a growth of 15.2%.
The healthcare sector rose by 5.6%, whereas the transportation segment saw a hike of 21.1% in prices.
Meanwhile, the monthly consumer price index (CPI) recorded 289.9 points last July, slightly up by 0.1% from June.
