Arab Finance: Egypt’s unemployment rate stood at 5.8% in the second quarter (Q2) of 2026, down 0.2 percentage points from the previous quarter, according to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The number of unemployed stood at 2.075 million during the quarter, compared to 2.126 million in Q2 2025.
The unemployment rate among males reached 3.4% of the total male labor force, while the female unemployment rate hit 14.4% of the total female labor force.
Meanwhile, the labor force reached 35.636 million people during the April-June period, increasing 0.6% from 35.412 million in Q1 2026.
Workers in urban areas were 15.414 million, while those in rural areas were 20.222 million.
In terms of gender, males accounted for 27.847 million of the labor force, while females represented 7.789 million.
