Arab Finance: Egypt has launched and handed over the country’s first locally developed industrial robot, as per a statement from the Ministry of Industry.

Built by Egyptian robotics company Raedbots for use with packaging machinery at CUBII, the robot currently has 80% local content, with its developers targeting 90% once its motor is manufactured locally.

Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem attended the launch and watched a demonstration of the robot. Raedbots briefed him on its functions, features, and locally made components. The project was developed in collaboration with the Industrial Modernization Centre (IMC) and CUBII to meet an industrial use case.

Hashem said the ministry would follow the robot’s performance at CUBII to assess whether it meets the company’s production requirements. Demonstrating its reliability in a factory would help build confidence in locally manufactured robots.

During the ceremony, Hashem witnessed the signing of three cooperation protocols. Under the first, IMC and Raedbots will provide technical support services to industrial facilities. The second protocol covers the supply of robots for packaging machinery. The third provides for educational robots for student research and training.
