Arab Finance: Egypt has welcomed Russia’s decision to launch direct flights to Borg El Arab and El Alamein international airports, a move that would boost tourism and air traffic between the two countries, according to a statement.
The new routes will provide Russian tourists with direct access to additional destinations along Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, particularly Alexandria, the North Coast, and New Alamein City.
Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) said: "Two more Egyptian airports are now accessible for direct flights from Russia. Following a directive from the Transport Ministry, Rosaviatsia is opening air traffic to Borg El Arab and El Alamein.”
Meanwhile, direct flights from Russia operate to Cairo, Hurghada, and Sharm El Sheikh. Aeroflot and Rossiya Airlines operate 21 routes, while five Egyptian carriers serve an additional 32 destinations.
Rosaviatsia has already received an application from Egyptian carrier Air Cairo to operate one-time, non-scheduled flights on the El Alamein–Moscow route starting August 15.
