Arab Finance: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attended the opening of the Egypt Mining Forum 2026 event, which is taking place on September 28 and 29 in the New Capital, according to a statement.
During his speech, El-Sisi affirmed the state’s commitment to supporting investment and ensuring the success of companies operating in the mining sector.
The opening ceremony featured remarks from Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi and AngloGold Ashanti CEO Alberto Calderon, alongside presentations by representatives of the Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group (AAMEG), the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), and the World Bank Group.
The forum highlighted Egypt’s mining potential, including the Sukari Gold Mine and opportunities for developing new mining projects. The program also included a live broadcast from mining sites across Egypt.
El-Sisi later toured the pavilions of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Capital Drilling, Elsewedy Electric, and AngloGold Ashanti.
On the sidelines of the forum, the president held talks with Calderon to discuss expanding the company’s investments and exploration activities in Egypt.
The results of mining investment opportunities offered in June for gold, phosphate, talc, and kaolin exploration under an open-sector system will also be announced at the two-day event.
