Food, vegetable prices in Egypt show mixed movements on January 5th

Arab Finance: Food and vegetable prices recorded mixed movements on Monday, January 5th, 2026, with some commodities posting daily and monthly increases while others declined, alongside varied annual change rates, according to a report by the Information and Decision Support Center(IDSC).

The price of a kilogram of packaged rice reached EGP 35.1, reflecting a daily increase of 2% and a monthly increase of 0.8%, while recording a slight annual decrease of 0.4%.

Packaged flour was priced at EGP 25.4 per kilogram, following a daily decrease of 11.3%, a monthly decrease of 2.9%, and an annual decrease of 1.2%.

Meanwhile, packaged sugar reached EGP 33.5 per kilogram, posting a daily decrease of 11.4%, a monthly decrease of 0.8%, and an annual decrease of 5.4%.

The price of packaged fava beans reached EGP 59.8 per kilogram, recording a daily decrease of 8.2%, a monthly increase of 2.4%, and an annual increase of 8.5%.

Packaged pasta was priced at EGP 32.5 per kilogram, with a daily decrease of 2.3%, a monthly increase of 2.4%, and an annual increase of 5.2%.

Sunflower oil reached EGP 95.3 per kilogram, reflecting a daily decrease of 1%, a monthly increase of 4.2%, and an annual increase of 8.8%.
