Arab Finance: The value of interbank payments executed in EGP through the Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system reached EGP 105.239 trillion during the first four months of 2026, through approximately 1.002 million transactions, according to the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
In January, a total of 228,209 transactions were executed at a value of EGP 22.320 trillion, while February witnessed the execution of 250,439 transactions at a value of EGP 21.342 trillion.
In March, the value of payments reached EGP 31.937 trillion through 261,099 transactions, while in April it hit EGP 29.638 trillion through 262,769 transactions.
The RTGS system is used to settle high-value and critical payment orders within the country. It has an effective role in supporting the stability and efficiency of the banking sector and reducing the risks associated with liquidity transfers between banks.
