Arab Finance: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met with Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom to review the Economic and Social Development Plan for fiscal year (FY) 2026/2027.
The program targets an economic growth rate of 5.4% and total investments of EGP 3.7 trillion.
Rostom said the private sector is expected to account for nearly 59% of total investments, reflecting the government’s efforts to expand private sector participation and strengthen productive and manufacturing capabilities.
The minister also outlined the main pillars of the National Economic Transformation Program for 2027–2030. It aims to strengthen the economy’s resilience to crises, enhance private sector participation and competitiveness, and increase employment and productivity to secure jobs and improve living standards.
He outlined additional key themes, including improving the allocation of public and private investments across governorates, boosting public finance governance, and enhancing efficiency.
The initiative also seeks to establish an effective coordination framework among the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.
Additionally, the minister discussed structural reforms outlined in the State Ownership Policy Document and the government’s initial public offering (IPO) program, both aimed at enabling the private sector to play a greater role in driving economic growth.
Meanwhile, the government is working to expand innovative long-term financing instruments, diversify funding sources, and improve liquidity to support the expansion of public and private projects, while broadening the tax base through digitalization.
