Arab Finance: Egypt will observe Thursday, October 8, as a paid public holiday for government employees in place of Tuesday, October 6, 2026, to celebrate Armed Forces Day and the anniversary of the 6th of October War victory, as per a statement.

This comes as per a decision declared by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

The holiday will apply to employees of ministries, government agencies, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, and public business sector companies.

Since 2020, the Egyptian government has shifted several mid-week public holidays to the nearest Thursday to facilitate the creation of long weekends. This change does not apply to major religious holidays and Labor Day.
